About Course

Welcome to the ECO Club knowledge enrichment course! This exciting program is designed just for you, young environmental champions in primary schools. Get ready to explore our amazing planet and learn how to protect it! We’ll dive into seven fun topics that are like pieces of a big puzzle. First, we’ll discover the wonders of our environment and how everything in nature works together. Then, we’ll learn about sustainability, which is like taking care of our Earth so it stays healthy for a long time. We’ll also talk about climate change and how we can help keep our planet cool. Next, we’ll explore the amazing variety of plants and animals around us, called biodiversity. We’ll find out about the circular economy, which is a clever way to reuse things instead of throwing them away. We’ll also learn how to stay safe during natural disasters and how to help others when they happen. Lastly, we’ll talk about WASH – the importance of clean water, good hygiene, and proper sanitation to keep ourselves and our communities healthy. Through fun activities, games, and projects, you’ll become a real Earth hero, ready to make a positive change in your school and neighborhood. Course Content

Environment
The Environment sub-module serves as a foundational introduction to environmental concepts for Eco Club members. It covers four key areas: an overview of the environment and its components, ecosystems and their functions, human impacts on the environment, and environmental conservation practices. This module aims to help students understand the interconnectedness of environmental elements, recognize the importance of a healthy environment for all life forms, identify human activities affecting the environment, and learn about conservation strategies. By the end of this sub-module, learners will have a basic understanding of environmental principles, preparing them for more in-depth exploration of specific environmental issues in subsequent modules.

Climate Change
The Climate Change sub-module provides Eco Club members with essential knowledge about this global environmental challenge. It covers four key areas: understanding climate change and its causes, the impacts of climate change on ecosystems and human societies, mitigation and adaptation strategies, and the specific effects of climate change in India and Odisha. This module aims to help students grasp the science behind climate change, recognize its wide-ranging impacts, explore solutions to address the issue, and understand its local relevance. By completing this sub-module, learners will be equipped with a foundational understanding of climate change, preparing them to engage in climate action and resilience-building efforts in their communities.

Circular Economy
The Circular Economy sub-module introduces Eco Club members to the concept of a regenerative economic model. It covers four key areas: an introduction to circular economy principles, waste management in a circular economy, sustainable production and consumption, and circular economy case studies. This module aims to help students understand the differences between linear and circular economic models, explore waste reduction strategies, learn about sustainable production and consumption practices, and analyze real-world examples of circular economy initiatives. By completing this sub-module, learners will grasp the importance of resource efficiency, waste reduction, and sustainable practices in creating a more environmentally friendly and economically viable future.

Sustainability
The Sustainability sub-module introduces Eco Club members to the core principles of sustainable development. It covers four key areas: foundations of sustainability, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), sustainable lifestyles, and sustainability in practice. This module aims to help students understand the three pillars of sustainability (environmental, social, and economic), familiarize them with the UN's SDGs, explore practical ways to adopt sustainable lifestyles, and examine real-world examples of sustainable initiatives. By completing this sub-module, learners will grasp the importance of balancing environmental protection with social progress and economic growth, recognize their role in achieving global sustainability goals, and be inspired to implement sustainable practices in their daily lives and communities.

Biodiversity
The Biodiversity sub-module introduces Eco Club members to the rich variety of life on Earth and its importance. It covers four key areas: an introduction to biodiversity and its levels, threats to biodiversity, conservation strategies, and the specific biodiversity of Odisha. This module aims to help students understand the concept of biodiversity, recognize its importance for ecosystem services and human well-being, identify major threats to biodiversity, explore conservation methods, and appreciate Odisha's unique flora and fauna. By completing this sub-module, learners will gain a comprehensive understanding of biodiversity's value, the challenges it faces, and the role they can play in its conservation, with a special focus on their local environment.

WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene)
The WASH sub-module introduces Eco Club members to the critical aspects of water, sanitation, and hygiene. It covers four key areas: introduction to WASH concepts, water access and management, sanitation and hygiene practices, and WASH in schools and communities. This module aims to help students understand the importance of WASH for human health and well-being, explore sustainable water management practices, learn about proper sanitation and hygiene habits, and recognize the role of WASH in promoting gender equality and social inclusion. By completing this sub-module, learners will grasp the significance of WASH in daily life and community development, preparing them to advocate for and implement improved WASH practices in their schools and communities.

Disaster Management
The Disaster Management sub-module equips Eco Club members with essential knowledge about managing and mitigating disasters. It covers four key areas: introduction to disaster management, disaster risk reduction, emergency response and relief, and specific disasters in India and Odisha. This module aims to help students understand different types of disasters, their impacts, and the disaster management cycle. It also explores strategies for disaster risk assessment, early warning systems, and community-based approaches. By completing this sub-module, learners will gain insights into disaster preparedness, response, and resilience-building, with a focus on the Indian and Odisha context, preparing them to contribute to their communities' disaster management efforts.
